April 7th:
Eco-Friendly Car Show- 1-2PM Great Hall, UW-Stout
April 19th:
Earth Day Celebration- south lawn next to the MSC
or Terrace if it's raining
Schedule:
2-4PM Educational and Art Activities: Tie-dying (bring your
own shirts), Energy Efficiency, Planting Station- start a plant for
your home, "Beezie Bags" reusable canvas bags in honor of Katie Lee,
past GreenSense Vice-President who died of leukemia last summer,
Henna Tatooing, Hair Wrapping, Dunn County Humane Society, Hand
Drumming, Open Mic, Kiva.org donations to help establish a
GreenSense microloan project
4-6PM Enjoy Great Music and Food: Little Willy- an
environmentally focused band will be playing contemporary and
classic music. Bring a dish to pass and your own beverage.
Veggie burgers for FREE.
April 21st:
"Eating
as if the Planet Mattered: Sustainability and Organic
Agriculture" by Will Fantle from
the Cornucopia Institute;
7-8PM, Room 144, Price Commons
April 22nd: "The
Eleventh Hour" movie; 7PM, Room 210, Applied Arts
April 24th:
Sustainable Dunn presentation: “What You Need to Know About
Using LEED Principles for New Construction and Remodeling”.
Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 P.M. at the Dunn County Judicial Center,
615 Stokke Parkway, Menomonie (Follow Hwy. 12-29 east and turn left
onto Stokke Pkwy. It's the building on the left side).
April 28th: Galloway Creek Cleanup; 5-7PM; Meet next to Jarvis
Hall (west side, near the MSC)
May 5th: Highway Cleanup; 5-7PM; Meet next to Jarvis Hall
(west side, near the MSC)
May 16th and 19th:
Spring Move-Out for off campus students; 10AM-3PM each day.
This event is designed to help off-campus students reduce waste
going to the landfill while also increasing donations of reusable
items to people in need.
Working with other campus leaders to
establish composting options for UW-Stout students. GreenSense
members have decided to pursue this campaign in honor of Katie Lee,
our wonderful and dedicated Vice-President of Greensense who died of
leukemia last summer. A memorial fund was established for
Katie and the funds will be used to make Katie's campus composting
dream come true!
RecycleMania, a national college
campus recycling competition from January-April, 2008.
